![]() ![]() Phenomena Super Mario 64 Reimplementation It is not entirely known if this was simply a coincidence, or that this Multiplayer Mode was loosely based off of the original Multiplayer Mode. This Multiplayer Mode appears to be similar to both versions of the Multiplayer Mode from the original Super Mario 64, having regular levels playable as well as minigames of some sort. Various smaller variants of levels can be played in Multiplayer Mode where the players compete to collect as many Power Stars as possible before the time limit ends, as well as several of the minigames that can be found in regular gameplay. ![]() ![]() Multiplayer Mode returned in Super Mario 64 DS with playable Yoshis using the DS Download Play feature. game, though due to the Nintendo 64 coming with a single controller, Multiplayer Mode was scrapped in it's entirety. Eventually, a new Multiplayer Mode was devised that would have had a minigame that would have played similarly to the first Super Mario Bros. ![]() It originally would have played like the standard game with the added character of Luigi, though technical limitations prevented the game from having both elaborate levels and Luigi. Multiplayer Mode, in all versions, only consisted of 2 players, who would play as Mario and Luigi.
